Saturday, May 4 | 1:00 – 2:00pm
Join Barrett Pitcher, School Counselor, M.Ed, NCC, for this workshop in which she will cover a brief psycho-education on the benefits and evidence behind mindfulness.
The program will cover 3 mindfulness techniques emphasizing presence and self-compassion: grounding using senses, diaphragmatic breathing with benefits explanation, and “I Am” mantras. Participants will choose one for meditation practice, followed by a debrief. Lastly, a plan will be created for integrating mindfulness into daily activities like dishwashing or listening to music.
This workshop is $30 per person and is open to members and non-members. All proceeds will go to St. Vincent’s Villa, an organization that provides residential treatment and diagnostic services for children between the ages of 6 and 12 with significant emotional and behavioral challenges. This initiative is in recognition of Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week beginning on May 5.
